Emtera is built on decades of industry expertise, blending two traditionally siloed competencies: advanced antenna designs with efficient RF power and low-noise RF amplification.

Founded in 2021, Emtera operates from Reston, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida. Since founding, the company has invested over $7M in its core technology platform — the Microwave Rapid Development Framework (MRDF) — and in the full-stack integration that very few RF firms of any size can offer: custom semiconductors, RF boards, antennas, embedded control, automated test, and production process under one discipline.

Greg Poe

Founder & Chief Technologist — RF, Antennas, Systems

  • Co-founded Micro-Ant and helped grow it from a 4-person startup to a ~70-person ISO 9001 / AS9100 antenna company over 17 years — engineering, test, production, and machine shop
  • As CTO, led hundreds of antenna products from 400 MHz to 40 GHz and transitioned designs to 4M+ unit production volumes
  • Earlier: defense RF programs at Northrop Grumman / Westinghouse; Ku-band phased arrays for comms-on-the-move at KVH Industries
  • At Emtera: architect of a Ka-band ESA with ±70° scan, an ultra-thin manpack terminal under 5 lbs, anti-jam arrays, and EW systems

  • Founded Virginia Millimeter Wave (1997) and Sophia Wireless (1999), merged into an RF semiconductor and SSPA company acquired by Integral Systems (Kratos Defense, 2010) — then served three years as Director of RF Engineering
  • Principal investigator on $6M+ of government-funded R&D for the US Air Force, Army, Navy, NASA, and the Missile Defense Agency
  • Invented the ultra-low-loss waveguide power-combining technology at the core of a commercial SSPA product line
  • At Emtera: chief architect of a Ka-band ESA running on roughly one quarter of the prime power of competing designs, with custom InP/GaAs amplifiers and phase shifters

  • Nine years driving technical, highly regulated electro-mechanical products through the full lifecycle: concept and industrial design, R&D, DFM, manufacturing, quality, scaling, test, certification, and delivery to market
  • Work spans military, medical, and high-volume consumer electronics — from wearable military drone controllers for Boeing, to space-suit systems in conjunction with NASA subsidiaries, to consumer products built at scale

How we scale — lean core, flex capacity

Emtera runs a small senior core by design: every design is touched by the principals. Around that core sits a vetted surge network of pre-qualified specialists — antenna, RF, mechanical, embedded, software, PCB, test, and manufacturing — engaged when a program needs them, with no idle overhead when it doesn't.

High-end electromagnetic simulation and data storage run on AWS GovCloud — capital goes into technology development rather than depreciating hardware, and the security posture is ready for sensitive programs from day one.

When it's time to field products at scale, our founders have done it before: they have led cross-functional teams of engineers, technicians, and production staff at a ~70-person antenna company and inside a defense prime, taking designs to millions of units.
